Connecthings launches NFC tag based transport services with Stagecoach in Cambridge

Stagecoach UK Bus chooses the platform and the expertise of Connecthings

London, September 12. Stagecoach, leading international public transport group in the UK, has collaborated with Connecthings to launch its first NFC tag based services in Cambridgeshire. A first subset of bus stops and shelters have been equipped with smart access points across Cambridge, providing citizens and visitors with dynamic and contextualized passenger information.

By tapping the tags at the bus stop with their Smartphone, people get access to the next buses’ arrivals at this stop and at the bus stops nearby thanks to the integration of an interactive map.

This latest deployment of NFC-based services has been built on Connecthings AdTagTM platform, a tag and contactless services management solution with unique capabilities. This cloud-based tool allows to dynamically and contextually build on-the-fly mobile services immediately delivered to individual Smartphone. Among other features, AdTag offers campaign management, analytics and couponing solutions..

Stagecoach East Managing Director Andy Campbell commented: “This is good news for our customers and is another step towards improving the information we are able to provide to bus passengers. We hope people will take advantage of this new option to help them find out more about their local bus services.”

Managing the delivery of Transport Information is essential to ensure that people will access the comprehensive information where and when they need it, and to support intelligent travel decision-making. Connecthings offers a brand new digital and visible tool that meet those challenges. This new mobile service launched with Stagecoach strengthens Connecthings leadership whose know-how and AdTAgTM platform performance have become unavoidable in Europe. Most of the pioneer cities in NFC have counted on Connecthings expertise to lead the deployment of their projects and ensure a tremendous success: Nice, Caen, Strasbourg and Paris in France, Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, Poole in the UK, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

“We are very proud to accompany Stagecoach in a brand new way to deliver passenger information, and especially in Cambridge, a place to be for innovation and technology. In this mobility context, people have changed their way to interact and move around the city, and to provide them with the right information at the right time in the right place has become essential to meet users’ immediate needs”, concludes Laetitia Gazel Anthoine, CEO and founder of Connecthings.
