Connecthings inspired many innovative beacons projects at Cisco Paris Smart City Hackathon

Connecthings was one of Cisco’s technology partners to support and participate to #DevnetHackathon organized by Cisco France.

Over 150 developers accepted to meet the challenge to “reinvent the future of the city in 48h” with the help of Cisco and Connecthings’s mentors. The hackathon took place at Numa Paris, the leading European hub for disruptive and innovative projects.

“Hackathons are great opportunities for Connecthings to have direct contact with the developers and innovators’ community. In integrating our SDK and using our platform on the spot, developers gave us instant and super valuable feedback on our technologies.” highlights Nicolas Lochet, CTO of Connecthings.

Beacon is definitely triggering a lot of interest to developers and innovators. Out of 22 projects presented, 13 of them had touched base with Connecthings’ beacons and SDK. Amongst the 8 projects that made it to the final round, 3 of projects were specifically built with Connecthings’ beacons and SDK.
And last but not least, the #3 hackathon finalist (project Gaia, a sustainable program to encourage green activities in the city ) was using Connecthings’ Internet of Things platform.

Hackathon Projects were related to improving traffic and transportation, public safety, energy monitoring, community-based tourism services and city planning.

“In order to become smarter and smarter, cities understand the value of deploying agile infrastructures, fostering innovation. Connecthings’ beacons network allow cities and their partners to improve mobile access to information in urban spaces. The beacons network can also be open to innovators and developers to test and launch the next generation of mobile smart city services” declares Laetitia Gazel Anthoine, CEO of Connecthings.
